Internal Retailgrid staff only. The Super Admin role and the surfaces it unlocks (All Accounts directory, log-in-as-customer flow) are not available to customer users. If you’re reading this as a customer, this page exists so you understand what Retailgrid staff can do inside your account and what’s audited when they enter it.
Super Admin is the internal-only role that lets Retailgrid pre-sales, implementation, and support specialists enter any customer account directly - to prepare a demo, validate a customer-specific dataset, or reproduce a reported bug - without asking the customer for their credentials.

Who Super Admin is for

Super Admin is granted to Retailgrid staff in the following functions:
  • Pre-sales specialists preparing demos against a real customer dataset.
  • Implementation managers validating data shape, configurations, and onboarding state.
  • Support specialists reproducing customer-reported bugs in the customer’s own account.
The role is not self-service and cannot be assigned to customer users. Retailgrid platform staff grant it explicitly.

What Super Admin can do

Super Admin unlocks three things on top of regular Retailgrid permissions:
  1. See every customer account in a cross-account All Accounts directory.
  2. Log in as any customer account, with full admin privileges inside that session.
  3. Exit cleanly back to the Super Admin session without re-authenticating.
Every enter and exit is audited (timestamp, target account, Super Admin user) so customers can request the trail.

All Accounts directory

Open the All Accounts page from the Super Admin section in the sidebar. It lists every customer account on the platform with enough metadata to identify and act on them:
ColumnWhat it shows
Account nameThe customer’s organization name.
PlanThe plan tier the account is on.
Primary ownerThe customer user who created the account or is the current admin.
Last activityWhen someone in the account last triggered a run or opened a grid.
CreatedWhen the account was provisioned.
Filter by plan, owner, or activity, or search by account name. Use the directory to locate the account you need before entering it.

Log in as a customer account

From the All Accounts directory:
  1. Find the account row.
  2. Click the row’s three-dot menu and choose Log in as.
  3. Confirm the prompt - the prompt names the account and reminds you that the action is audited.
You land inside the customer’s account with full admin privileges for that session. A persistent impersonation banner at the top of every page shows:
  • The account you’re impersonating.
  • The fact that you’re a Super Admin (not the customer user).
  • An Exit button.
Leave Exit in reach. Closing the tab also ends the impersonation, but the banner is the cleaner exit.

Exit cleanly

Click Exit in the impersonation banner to end the session and return to your Super Admin session. You don’t need to re-authenticate; the Super Admin session resumes where you left it (same browser tab, same place in the directory).

What’s audited

Every Super Admin enter / exit is logged. The audit record captures:
  • The Super Admin user who entered.
  • The customer account they entered.
  • The timestamp of entry and the timestamp of exit.
  • (For sensitive actions inside an impersonated session) the action that was taken.
Customers can request the audit trail for their account through their Retailgrid contact.

Limitations

  • Super Admin is granted by Retailgrid platform staff, not by customers, and cannot be assigned to customer users.
  • The impersonation session has the same permission surface as the customer’s account admin - actions taken inside it count as actions taken inside the customer’s account.
  • Multiple concurrent impersonations from the same Super Admin user are not supported; exit one before entering another.
